Stander ACE Hardware will officially become...
Louisville
Hardware
Larry and Maureen Gulizia will be officially changing the name of the store from Stander Ace Hardware to simply Louisville Hardware. It has been close to 100 years that "Stander" has been part of the name of this iconic Louisville venue. This is a major change. "It was just time." says Maureen Gulizia "There were so many changes, to the Building, to the Goods we offer, we are changing everything, it was just a good time to update the name. We ARE Louisville Hardware!" Larry is planning to change the sign when the weather provides a little encouragement.

MAKING A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE
February 5, 2010, Lincoln -In 2007 I introduced LB 425 to adopt the Nebraska Operational Assistance Act (Act). The bill proposed to maintain an economic development program that began in 2002 and was renewed in 2005. LB 425 appropriated funds to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED). DED then awarded the funds to a private, nonprofit organization to operate the program. The Act required the nonprofit organization to provide technical assistance to individuals and companies that lack the components to achieve their growth potential. The individuals and companies were then to be matched with people who were willing and able to make investments, in order to potentially realize profits in the future. The provisions of the Act, and the state funds that supported it, were expected to sustain the existing groundwork, from which new ideas could be launched to create high-paying jobs, import dollars to our state and expand our tax base.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CONNECTING YOUNG
NEBRASKANS
CYN was established because
we want to help you enjoy
Connecting Young Nebraskans, (CYN) is
a social network of young Nebraskans who have joined together to discuss
and take action to promote change in Nebraska. In past years, it seems
that the voice of young Nebraskans has been missing on many important issues.
In an effort to address this, the University of Nebraska Rural Initiative
would like to encourage and support the formation and ongoing operation
of a 'Young Nebraskans' group. This group will belong to its members so
it's up to you to help shape it into something you want to be a part of.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Try some soup at the UMC this Valentine's Day!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Did you know... FEBRUARY is 4-H Month! "I pledge my head to clearer thinking. My heart to great loyalty. My hands to larger service. And my health to better living. For my club, my community, my country and my world."
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 'Tis the season of LoVe, dear Louisvillians!
As you are contemplating how you'll spend your Valentine's Day with your loved one(s), consider thinking about why you love Louisville What makes it unique and worthy of your love? I posed this question to some of my LOVELY students at Louisville, and here are some of their responses: * "Louisville is small, but it's jampacked with people and things to do. People are always visiting because of the Lakes, so you get to meet new people!" --- Hayley
* "The community is supportive and everyone knows your name!" --- Ryan
* "When something goes wrong, the whole community really helps out." --- Kymee
* "We have a community that supports the school and students. The community helps students with scholarships and many other activities." --- Kacie
* "We don't have to worry about traffic." --- Cori
As usual, my students really made me think about Louisville and how fortunate I am to live here. Find a reason or two to be thankful for living here too! Have a week full of LOVE-ly happenings! Your Louisville Editor, Paula
