LOUISVILLE POWER
DRIVE
END-OF-YEAR RESULTS
After a long up and down rally season, the Louisville Power Drive team has finished its 3rd rally season. This year brought many challenges and new ideas with the building of a new car, and it also brought with it continued success with the return of 48 car in its second year. The long, late hours spent designing and making modifications to the cars to get them ready for rallies was well worth it. The Louisville team competed in 5 of the 6 rallies this season and again represented Louisville by performing well.
The advanced class car 48, in its second year finished with three 1st place finishes and one 2nd place finish on the year. The team was also awarded best pit crew for their efforts in preparing the car for the rally and a smooth pit stop during the rally itself. A few senior members played a big part in making the 48 car a success the past two years, these seniors are: Sean Churchich, Cori Hall, DJ Hobbs and Pat McAndrew. The 48 car performed well at the state race finishing 4th after a few mechanical failures which took the car out of contention. The 48 car did finish on a high note by placing 1st in the vehicle documentation and receiving a Snap-On tool box as the award for their efforts.
The standard class car 45 started out well. Finishing 1st in the first two rallies, the car was off to a great start, but during the 3rd rally in Columbus on a rough track, a weld broke causing the car to hit a curb and roll. Extensive damage was done to the right side of the car and it took the team almost 3 weeks to make repairs to get the car ready for the final state rally. The 45 car performed well receiving good times during the braking and maneuverability contests and also ran well in the rally. Still a few minor mechanical problems from the rollover kept the 45 car from placing in the rally, but the combined effort brought home an overall finish of 3rd in the state.
Thank you again to all of our sponsors who have helped make Louisville Racing a success. As a team we have enjoyed the overwhelming support from the community and friends and hope to again have another successful year in 2011.

Hello Louisvillians!
Whew..it was a busy weekend in Louisville, wouldn't you agree? Were you able to dance the night away at the street dance on Saturday? Did you participate in the Poker Run? Were you a volunteer with the many activities going on? How many of you were able to attend the Last Hot Sunday in July events? Whatever you may have done over the weekend, I hope that you enjoyed the super summer sunshine that the last weekend in July brought us.
I was able to snap a few photos of the activities on Sunday and observe the many cars that neatly lined our Main Street. Though I would not consider myself a "car buff" or "true vintage appreciater", I did appreciate the beauty of these cars in their varying arrays of colors, styles, years, makes and models. Moreover, though, I really admired the work of the owners, as they do a remarkable job of maintaining true brilliance in their "babies." I had to think about all of the time, effort and resources that have been poured into these vehicles. It is remarkable to see the pride in the eyes of the owners as they talk about the outstanding fruits of their labors.
So, as usual, these ponderings didn't simply halt here for me. I started thinking about how cars and people are very similiar...how many of the same kinds of care are required for people. Sometimes, people break...but they can be fixed with a bit of love, time and TLC. Sometimes, it takes an overhaul to get it exactly right. :) Of course, people are not clones, as they come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, makes, models and years. Glancing around the streets of Louisville on Sunday was strong evidence of this fact. There are cars who move speedily through the streets and those that are content to simply putter around...same with people! There are some cars who are perpetually filthy and some that are squeaky clean all of the time...same with people. It's easy to continue drawing all sorts of connections between human beings and vehicles...I'm sure you could make many parallels of your own.
That's all for this week, Louisvillians! I hope you were able to partake in our community's festivities this weekend. It was a wonderful weekend to enjoy the efforts and hard work of all the volunteers who worked to coordinate these events! Thank you to those folks and to all who attended this weekend's events.
Have a wonderful week, Louisvillians!
