Senior Center Updates

 SSdinner

On Friday February 15 the Louisville Senior Center had a special lunch hosted by Manager Pat Schliefert and the center’s board to thank all the senior volunteers who help with events and the distribution of ENOA meals that are delivered weekly. The lunch was catered by Main Street Café and tables were decorated for Valentines Day.

Also Pat Schliefert, who announced her retirement this month after 15 years at Senior Center, is handing over the keys to the new Manager, Evelyn Hans. Evelyn has a degree in nursing home administration and 15 years of previous experience working as an activities director in long term care. Her first priority is to increase awareness of what the Louisville Senior Center has to offer and increase attendance. The center is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00am -2:00 pm and meals are delivered by ENOA (Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging) for a minimal fee. Also, there is the availability to have in-home delivery of these meals. Anyone interested in eating in or dining at home must call one day in advance to make arrangements. The Center is located at 423 Elm and the telephone number is 402-234-2120. It’s a fun place for seniors to play cards or bingo or do crafts. Evelyn is also lining up entertainment as well as guest speakers. Events will be posted in local venues. But for now, pot luck lunches will be return on the first Monday of the month from 12:00-1:00 - they are free if you bring a covered dish or the cost is $4. And the biscuits and gravy breakfast will continue on the last Saturday of each month. The next covered dish/potluck lunch will be on Monday March 4th with corned beef and cabbage as the main dish everyone is welcome....young, old & hungry!!

Jim Wolcott (also of Elmwood) was recognized as outstanding Car Parker, and Brenda Jones of Louisville won the 'Overall' award for the varied and amazing things she's done at the Lofte over the past 20 years.

Elvis is in the Building - this Saturday

158

Elvis tribute artist and Nebraska native, Joseph Hall will amaze you with his live performance on Saturday, February 23. There are two shows: 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. All seats are reserved and tickets are $20.

Joseph first hit the big time in 2008 when he finished in the top 10 of the television hit, "America's Got Talent." He has since performed in arenas and concert halls around the world including Las Vegas, Memphis, Chicago and even the Bahamas!

While ticket sales are brisk, we anticipate that some tickets still available at the door on the date of show. Bring your 'Teddy Bear' and don't get 'All Shook Up' because Elvis is 'Always On My Mind.' 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?' Because if you are, your tickets aren't 'Blowin' In The Wind.' They're at the Lofte!
