Alvo family home destroyed in explosion
The home of Neal and Jennifer Wilhelm was destroyed in the early morning hours on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
A propane explosion in their basement lifted their home of 25+ years over a foot off the ground, blowing the foundation out from under the house with both Neal and Jen still inside.
Jen was uninjured in the explosion unfortunately Neal was not so lucky. Neal has been in St.Elizabeth's Burn Center since that morning with severe burns, the major areas being his hands. neal has already endured two surgeries and the doctors do not know how many more he will need. The road to recovery, when he is able to leave the hospital, will still be along process. Jen and Neal have also lost their home in the explosion and demolition set to happen soon.
To help family with medical and living expenses incurred while Neal is in the hospital and out of work, a fund set up at the American Exchange Bank in both Elmwood and Eagle branches.
