Final Meeting of the 60 Year Old, Modern Mothers Club in Elmwood
An End to the Modern Mothers Is Not the End of the Friendships

I wish I had known more about the Elmwood Modern Mothers sooner.
When I met them they were at the end of their 60 year run.
Their last meeting was held at the Bess Streeter Aldrich House in December.
The house was decorated in part by the Modern Mothers for the holiday season.
They were having a catered dinner and maybe a little wine.
I was invited to come before the meeting and do a story about them
for the Elmwood Nebraska newsletter.
Erin Andersen, a reporter with the Lincoln Journal Star, was already there
interviewing the group. Click Here for Her Article I was happy to get to listen in like a fly
on the wall as they reminisced and laughed and even rolled their eyes at each other.
After 60 years they know each other very well. They began Modern Mothers
in a different time than we "modern mothers" know now.
They have experienced, and documented, more than we ever
will have the opportunity to do. The changes over the years took
them from a very basic life to a very busy world. The memories that
they have are priceless. Erin Andersen did a fabulous job capturing
their story so I will share her story from the Lincoln Journal Star.
