As the gift-buying frenzy heats up and the weather cools down, many regular donors may put off a blood or platelet donation, which led to nearly 64,000 fewer blood and platelet donations to the American Red Cross during the holiday season last year than during the rest of the year. That’s why the Red Cross is urging all eligible donors to give more life this winter by donating blood or platelets.

As a special appreciation gift, those who come to give Dec. 21 through Jan. 7 will receive a long-sleeved Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.
